Re: R.I.P. Ozzy Osborne

Yeah, Hulk Hogan was 71, which doesn't sound as old to me now as it once did.

Re: 4th of July

I really did laugh out loud at your grandpa's saying, HH. I know the reason Jesus tells us to forgive our enemies is for our own sakes, not theirs. It just poisons your life to live with bitterness and resentment. I remember the Eurythmics well, and Sweet Dreams was probably their signature song. I ...

Re: R.I.P. Ozzy Osborne

Oh, my, I missed hearing about this. A couple of other celebrities have also passed recently, Malcolm Jamal Warner, of course, and a country singer/ songwriter named Helen Cornelous who is much lamented around here. I didn't know much about Ozzy, but my impression of him was that he was a bit of a c...

Re: It looks like the Halloween season is starting early this year

I of course grew up before the home video revolution. I love having my personal library of films I can watch whenever I Iike, but there are some things that were more special in the old days. When you could just watch The Wizard of Oz one day a year, and everyone else you knew was watching it, too, ...

Re: 4th of July

Yes, I've known of stuff like this happening once or twice in Arkansas, where I have extended family and acquaintances. These folks, the con artists, are very clever and predatory. They have radar out on people who are elderly and perhaps cognitively impaired, as well as those who are just overwhelm...

Re: It looks like the Halloween season is starting early this year

Oh, my! June is very early! Now, my husband has been Summerweening pretty intensively this July, which has surprised me. He's pulled out several dvds from our collection--Haunted History of Halloween, Salem Witch Trials, The Mummy, Pirates of the Caribbean, and even my ultimate Halloween movie, Hocu...

Re: 4th of July

Oh, that's a sad tale. When my mother died, I trusted a woman I'd known slightly in high school to house sit for me. The house was in Mississippi, and I was moving from Virginia to Tennessee. My mother actually died in Arkansas, her original home, and was buried there. Keep in mind I'm an only child...

Re: 4th of July

Oh, Interesting. I'd like to see them when it's convenient. I don't think I have any patriotic Christmas ornaments. I have one Confederate flag on my tree because I'm Southern, but most people wouldn't count that. I used to have a Revolutionary War drummer boy when I was a kid, but all those ornamen...

Re: 4th of July

Oh, you did have a nice view! I discovered I was able to view the civic fireworks from the end of my street almost as well as if I'd driven to a nearby shopping center, so I watched on foot and met some neighbors who were doing the same thing. My husband and I have decided that one day or even weeke...

Re: It looks like the Halloween season is starting early this year

Lol touche I guess my parents' generation was the first in which large numbers of people relocated for jobs. I mean, yes, there was the pioneer push in the 19th century, but once those people got where they were headed, they tended to stay. My mother's family all stayed in Arkansas because they owne...
