Christmas Shows

Post by Kolchak » Tue Dec 23, 2014 8:10 pm

Y'all have any special TV shows you watch during the Christmas season?

We're kind of partial to Miracle on 34th Street; the original 1947 with Natalie Wood. I also like Scrooged with Bill Murray. Christmas Comes to Willow Creek with John Schneider and Tom Wopat from the Dukes of Hazzard. Don't laugh. It's actually a cute little movie.

I have Scrooge on blu ray. It is from 1970 and is a musical version of A Christmas Carol starring Albert Finney. I also just began a new tradition of watching Die Hard.

A Christmas Carol (Scott, 1984)
Bethlehem Star (DVD about what the star really was)
Joyeux Noel
The Nativity
Charlie Brown
Rudolph
It's a Wonderful Life
Music DVDs from Celtic Woman and, this year, Trace Adkins. I had never paid much attention to Trace Adkins, but his arrangement of We Three Kings blew me away last year at the NY tree lighting ceremony. His whole album, The King's Gift, and the Christmas DVD of his show promoting it, are beyond stellar.

We own a lot of other Christmas movies, but most of them we don't watch that much. These are the ones we try to get around to every year.

I remember my Mother taking me to see the Albert Finney Christmas Carol when I was 10. It's hard to believe that Finney grew up and became that evil doctor who wanted to turn Jason Bourne into an assassin!!!   8)
