the cat is a she, her and her sister are a year old this month so this is her first tree, she's very interested in it

That's how I like to do it, leave the Christmas stuff up until after New Years. After all, I think of New Years as Christmas part II, don't ask me why, I think it's because it just doesn't feel like the Holiday Season has ended until January 2nd. A lot of people leave their outdoor decorations up through New Years as well. Sure the big feast has ended, and the opening presents, but the celebrating hasn't, and New Years follows right after Christmas so close that it's almost like they're part of the same holiday. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, you get it.Aww we leave ours up till New Years day.
