The Crow vs The Joker
My roommate and I were just watching The Crow... I can't believe she's never seen it! We were discussing the odd similarity between Brandon Lee and Heath Ledgers deaths. Their breakout roles and sudden deaths. While watching she made the comment on how similar the Joker's makeup was to the Crow's. This got me to thinking that Heath must have used Brandon's role as inspiration. Has anyone ever heard whether this was true or not? I do remember reading that Heath came up with the Joker's look on his own.
BTW: If you've never seen The Crow... what's wrong with you?!? Guy comes back from the dead to avenge his and his fiance's deaths. On Devil's Night, the night before Halloween.

Re: The Crow vs The Joker
I hadn't noticed the similarities before, but there are some. The biggest difference I can see is that The Crow was the hero of the piece and psychologically doesn't have that much in common with the Joker. The Crow was trying to retain his humanity while doing dark deeds and the Joker seemed not to care about his, or anybody else's, humanity. In the graphic novel he actually uses the "He who hunts monsters" quote.
Have you read the graphic novel the movie was based on?

We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

I actually have the original comics from Caliber. Had to buy the graphic novel later so I could read the whole story. Caliber went belly up before they could finish the series. That first series has got to be worth something.ScarecrowJack wrote:Have you read the graphic novel the movie was based on?

So eerie. I'm so bummed Heath didn't live long enough to let us know if Brandon inspired him.
I'm also bummed they're talking about remaking the movie. Should be untouchable. O'Barr created other stories based around the crow, they could use one of those. I want to see the female crow!

I didn't know they were talking about remaking it. I don't approve either. A female crow would appeal to you wouldn't it...

Re: The Crow vs The Joker
I liked the story.
She was a federal officer that was killed by terrorists. Problem was, she was pregnant when she was killed so she comes back to avenge her unborn child. The story takes a twist when we find out she wasn't even sure if she was going to keep the baby in the first place.
With the right treatment that could make a good movie.
