I could spend a mint at Target for all the decorations I want this year. We have been planning a party for this October, probably the 20th, but with our car needing a new transmission and my youngest needing dental surgery next month we might have to cancel.
Actually now that I think about it I'll be out of town on the 20th on a business trip so that plan is screwed anyway!
I guess we could do it the 27th but that is cutting it close, who knows?

Instead of having the "whole" party at your house, maybe go in with a couple of friends, do appetizers at one location, then surprise your guests with a scavenger hunt out in public, divide the guests into 3 or 4 teams, (colored stones in a bag pull them out and instant teams-couples can get split up its a hoot. Send them off with a list of really hard or must think about things to find. Set your own rules, I usually send them with a disposable camera or alot of times at least 3 or 4 people show up with digitals, make sure one on each team. tell them all but one person has to be in each photo and the same person can't take every photo. Items to find for instance, an old fashioned phone booth, other people in costume, graveyard, etc be creative, they have to have their photos dropped off within an hour of like a cvs or one hour photo place closing so they can get developed then head to the second location for more munchies. On the way to the last location for drinks I pick up the photos and then have a blast laughing about them....
