Masks vs. Makeup?

So here's a poll for ya... Masks vs. Makeup? Which one is better?

I'd go with makeup. It's uncomfortable to wear a mask for a long period of time. Its gets my face sweat, and it's difficult to breath the air.

Mask or make-up? You make your own decision.

masks can get uncomfortable very quickly. I don't know if by 'fx' you mean things like fake noses and such.

That's what I think works the best, a few pieces of foam to change the face and makeup to make it all look real.

Don't get me wrong. I've seen some DYNOMITE make-up jobs, but you really have to be an ARTIST to put all that glop together. I just don't have that kind of tallent. I'm pretty much at a loss without a camera. So I usualy go with a mask. Even my home made costumes that I made myself when I was a kid usualy consisted with a face covering of some kind.

Face coverings are easier to deal with. But a great make-up job is pretty hard to beat as far as asthetics is concerned.

For me, I'd go for mask. Cause make up might irritate my face and cause some itchy sensations. I dont want that. Besides I Like wearing cool masks.

Ok, some people can't stand some kinds of masks at all because of too hot... some have some kind of skin sensitive... Same thing about FX workups...

Even, with some make-ups, they still have same problem with skin sensitive...

I think it depends on the costume idea. I have seen some fantastic make-up jobs,but sometimes you need a mask.
I think make-up is a must if you are going to live and socialize like at a party.
Masks, (not the flimsy plastic with the rubberband around the back, but the laytex kind with the real texture) can be almost beautiful with the detail and perfection. They are art.
Not to mention they can make someone pee a little with fright!!!

I do have Michael Myers 2002 latex mask which was cost $70.00 - and it was very cool mask! It looks so real just like in the movie! Back in 2003, when I wore that mask from 6pm until TOTers was over around 8:30pm and it (that mask) made my face hot and sweat! But I guess I have no problem with it.

the mask. simply because when you have an itch, you just lift up your mask, scratch, and you're relieved. with makeup, you don't want to ruin it, so you avoid scratching all night, driving yourself insane.

Yes, that's true. But the problem with that makeup my girlfriend had on a few years ago on Halloween, when it was hot, she got sweating and her makeup was melt away off her face. So she will never use that makeup again.

yeah, i have a $70 myers mask also (different from yours), and our masks look ok, but i wouldn't go as far to say "it looks so real just like in the movie." if you wanna see masks that look just like the movie ones, go to http://michael-myers.net and check out the replica masks there... i'm buying one very soon.

You have to be a pretty darn good artist to do make-up. I have to go with a mask, or hire a make-up artist.

Mask definitely, it is so much easier to just put on a mask. And i have always hated face painting/makeup. A rainy Halloween is anyone's nightmare, mask or makeup.

I totaly agree about a rainy Halloween. After ToT is over, I like to take the motorcycle for a midnight Halloween ride and check out all the displays. I don't generaly dot hat if ti's rainy, though. October is pretty much the last month that you can really do some riding before the weather totaly deteriorates and the snow starts to fly. I've had some good riding days in November, and a few and far-between during the Winter months, but all in all, the weather really does not lend itself to motorcycle riding until about mid April through about the first 10 days or so of November.

And it's already August.
