Woah!

I just started watching 'Paranormal Activity'. It takes place just up the road from me. That alone makes it worth watching though I don't much care for these mockumentary style movies.

ok.. so my brother came over last night and brought the movie (DVD quality.. it was perfect)
we ate the chowder (which was GREAT) then popped the movie in...

in my opinion this movie was excellent!! it had some really good scenes and it wasn't too drawn out!! i loved it and will probably wind up buying it once it releases.. for now i'll just settle for the copy he left me
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Well, I'm afraid I am going to have to disagree with the general consensis here. I was really looking forward to seeing this film after all the hype I heard about. I thought it was going to be another scare a minute. As it turns out, the film was not terrible, but it was NO "Blair Witch Project." The story idea was a good one, but the film had a few problems which I will address here.

1. It moved too slow, and had too much junk footage of Micah fighting with his gf, and makign light of the whole thing.

2. A lot of inconsistancies in the film. Only 1 expert called in, and a cricifix thrown into the fire. When you are being tormented by a demon from hell, you don't push away your only ali.

3. The story, while a good story, was very poorly developed, and shoved aside for all the quarling and junk footage.

4. The author of the story did not research his topic very well. That's why there were so many inconsistancies.

So I have to say that "Paranormal Activity" was a very mediocre film. I was disappointed, as I really thought this was going to be destined for my private collection, along with "The Blair Witch Project" and "The Haunting" (The original & remake,) but it's just too boring and slow moving.

I wasn't so impressed with it either. The only part that startled me was when he turned around with the camera and the girlfriend was there. After that I was expecting those sudden surprises. I personally thought the bickering and arguing was spot on. Showed how the relationship degraded as the situation wore on.

I am like Mike, if it isnt basically believable then I pick the whole movie apart.......it has to be basically believable for me

I have to go with Spooky on this one. The constant bickering and junk footage did more to detrace from the movie then enhance it. The inconsistancies were too numerous, and the whole thing was not believable. It also was not very plausable as a 'damonpossession' story. I realize that this film was made on an 11,000 dollar budget, but regardless, the research could have been better, the story could have been better developed, and even the bickering could have been more centered around the demon in the story rather then her resentments of the camera and the ouija board.

the arguing and the lack in development made it more realistic to me :) all i know is that i wanted to watch a good ghost movie and i was satisfied fully :) i'll add it to my library
