The legend of the werewolf is one of the most ancient and wide spread. Stories of werewolves can be found as far back as history has been written.

Rumors in the 16th century say that they've seen some werewolves in England, Scotland, France, Spain (mostly European). Also, scientists say that werewolves are accurate because its breed human/wolf. No information expected at this time, but they are still investigating when they get chance. Well, what do you think about this? True or false?


And, if I find out more information, then I will keep it updated here.

The legend began with moldy bread and mass histaria, just like the Salem witch trials. People imagined it. The moldy bread made the person think they were a werewolf. That combined with a hair disorder that made people look like a werewolf. So all in all, people thought they saw and became werewolves because of imaginations, a hair disorder, qand moldy bread.

There are such a thing as Therians, people who believe they have an animalistic side to them, an animal spirit within them. They don't physically transform, but they can psychologically and spiritually transform. They aren't limited to wolves either, many have adopted the name "were" but they aren't the same kind of "wereanimals" that are depicted in myths and in HollyWood.
It makes for an interesting Google. I was told once I had the spirit of a Black Panther...but then again I'm not entirely sure...

It's another one of those legends that has to come from some sort of truth. It's prevalent in too many cultures to just be dismissed as myth. I've heard of the mold thing that causes the hallucinations. That could definitely be part of it.

I know the traditional stereotypes of witches and vampires were created by novelists or movie directors and I think the traditional werewolf might be as well. So what we think of as a werewolf might not be exactly what they really were. Make sense? Before science and medicine were able to explain a lot of things people were left with no choice but to give a paranormal twist to everything that was unknown at the time.

I am curious, where did the stereotype witch come from?

Good question. Honestly, I don't know the exact where they came from... I believe somewhere in Europe... People say in England, Greece, Spain and Ireland.


The truth is that this stereotype of witches, (or Wiccans, as they are more commonly referred to today) is still deeply mbedded within their culture. This mass media continues to depict Witches in a way that makes them look like evil, creepy old hags that will turn you into a frog if you cross them. I asked several teenagers this past week what the first image they saw when the word "witch" was uttered. Most said "goths" who tend to wear lots of black such as dark clothes, hair color, facial make-ups, fingernails painted, etc. Some referred me to a movie like "The Craft". Again, gothic type.

Actually, witches came from the same place as werewolves. Moldy bread and histeria. Those caused hollusinations, mainly staring their least favorite neighbor, and accuses them of being a witch. Back then, the slightest abnormality made them a suspect, something as little as a birthmark. They thought that anything that wasn't normal, like a family remedy, made them evil, a witch and/or in league with the devil.

Forgot to add that the thoughts of them being evil, even though they looked perfectly normal, they thought they were wearing human skin and underneath they were hidious. (if that's how you spell it.) Most were wiccans who used ingrediants for natural healing. That was strange so they chalked it up as witchcraft which both come from wicca.

Those witch trials were so stupid! They accused people for the dumbest things!! But what I mean is, where did the pointy black hat, the old black dress, the greens skin, the long nose and the warts come from? And also where did flying on a broom come from? They also have a blind eye sometimes!!

Remember what I said about being ugly underneath, that's what they thought they really looked like. People imagined the broom riding in their dreams because of the mold. As for the pointed hat and stuff, people made that part up for Halloween.

I guess the whole greens skin and warts and all that was made up for the stereotype huh?

I kind of wish things weren't explained away so easily, like the bread mold thing for example. It ruins the fun.
But if it really was bread mold...how come I didn't hallucinate when I took pennicillian? :p or is it a specific KIND of bread mold?

My dad just rented me the 1941 Wolfman movie. I will watch it. But it might put me to sleep.

BTW, I heard that werewolves are not REAL! They're just myth, and what people see is what they think some kinds of shadows in the woods, something like that... I don't believe in werewolves.

And, for witches, I do believe they practice witchcraft, not like devil worshipping-thing, you know? Some people think they can use magic spell casting on someone else... Some are Goth-type persons, they love wear black clothes, heavy dark makeups, etc. Perhaps they do worship the devil, who knows? I've never experienced trying into witchcraft thing, but I dare NOT!

I thought witches (AKA wikkens or however you spell it.) were just like ordinary people. They just use magic. And I think it is a religeon or something like that.

But it might put me to sleep.

What I meant by that is I hope it is not boring like some old movies.
