Well, I just got back from an eye appointment with my daughter. She is getting contact lenses today, which was supposed to be her big Christmas gift. But the optometrist took the last two weeks of December off.

But hey, it's still Christmas until January 6th, anyway (Twelfth Night), so we aren't late. That's also why I won't be taking anything down until Monday, the 7th.

Watching '31 Dracula, eating pizza, drinking Shocktop Pumpkin beer, and playing with my new toy... Windows 10. In fact, I surfed in here on 10. I think I figured out why they are skipping numbers on the next version of Windows... because 7 8 9 (drum roll please). This preview of 10 actually works pretty good so far, I had to turn the start menu on myself but it is back. You can still use the start screen if you prefer.

"I bid you welcome. Listen to them, children of the night. What music they make." Drac is such a class act.

Martin Landau nailed it with his portrayal of Lugosi in 'Ed Wood'.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I'm downloading the release candidate of Windows 10. Time to upgrade my main computer. These of you who are not computer savvy might want to wait a bit. Maybe a month. There are still some bugs but no real nagging ones that I've seen. What I've experienced so far, it's as stable as Windows 7 and has some of the cool features of 8/8.1. The Start Menu is back but search is so quick I see no need for it. Also comes with a voice activated digital assistant named Cortana, like Siri but on steroids. It's done downloading. Here I go. Fingers are crossed. I backed everything up, just in case.

...............................................................................................

Oi! Why didn't it just download the updates at the same time as the software? More time to kill.

That is so true! Especially now that this is going to be the last version of Windows. From here on out it's constant updates, like OS X and iOS.

My install failed, but at least it rolled it back so I can still use this computer. Think I'm going to do a clean install so I can get rid of all the junk that built up over the last few years. Gonna take more time.
