Beretta 9mm I used to carry on duty, and various .22 rifles I have just for fun, I sold off my other guns long ago......

How either one of you passed the background check is beyond me.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

You don't need a background check to buy a gun...

I dont know about AZ but most states run a basic criminal/mental background check on you when you purchase a handgun, there is a "waiting period" while they check you out (well, they are supposed to anyway) so, yes, there is, but I never bought a gun in AZ so I am not sure how it works there, but as I understand it, the Brady Bill made it a Federal requirement to have background checks done on all persons buying a handgun...

I have a Glock 27 (subcompact .40 cal) that I had bought for concealed carry. I was planning on getting my CHL but still haven't. And a Mossberg home defense 12 gauge. I had to go through a background check for both.

OoOoh. You guys are talking about buying guns from actual stores. I wasn't. You don't need a background check to buy a gun.

The 1993 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act established the national database known as the National Instant Background Check System (NICS), where the names of people ineligible to possess firearms are to be entered.......... but a lot of good that does. That only stops people who have been added to the list from buying guns-- not those who should be added to the list... say, like young college-aged fellows who like to shoot politicians in the head. The gun shop did a background check on HIM...

... and I didn't see the US government give the Mexican drug cartels a background check when they practically gave them 100's of guns. High ranking officials giving guns to criminals? Hahaha! Background checks are for law-abiding citizens only!

oh, you meant buying a gun from your pal "Herby" down the street or you work with in the parking lot?

I believe that is illegal now too, I think the two of you are supposed to go through a gun dealer when selling a gun to a "friend" so the checks can be made.

But you're right, if the states dont actually send in the info to be added to the NICS then people slip through. You'll be happy to know that Arizona was one of the top reporters to that system...hell, Texas doesnt even participate in the mentally challenged/defective reports to that system....

Around here in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA... it is illegal to shoot! :? Also, I don't have gun permit you know? I have to be more carefully... but the cops told me before that I have the right to have a gun for my own home defensivine, something like that? And, I can't carry it outside somewhere, even in my car!

I own a .357 magnum revolver, a .22 caliber revolver, a 20 guage shot gun and a 12 guage shot gun (Winchester) with interchangeable barrels. One barel is for firing regular buck shot, and the other is set up for 1 ounce deer slugs. It's a suprisingly great gun for the ammount of money I paid for it. In fact, that and my.357 Magnum are my to personal favs. the .357 Magnum is loaded and under my pillow in case I should need it. I don't carry it around with me, however. There are laws in Illinois against carrying conceiled weapons.

Mike, same thing here in Norfolk/Virginia Beach area in VA.... it's illegal to carry concealed weapons everywhere, unless you have gun permit from the city. Well, I don't have gun permit with me and I only keep my guns at home for my own protection.

By the way, have you experienced shooting uzi submachine guns before? I can't believe it is now $4,500 each!

.
Someone remind me to ask my buddy what he did with my gun. I gave it to him when I was clearing stuff out of the house after the flood and I keep forgetting to ask him. Getting forgetful. Must be getting old.

While we're on the subject, somebody remind me to ask my buddy what he did with my gun.
