The Purple Bishop

Post by Christoph777 » Sun Oct 12, 2008 12:04 am

This you might or might not find scary. I first heard the story of the Purple Bishop in boyscout camp, at that age lots of things might seem scary. The story takes place in the state of Pennsylvania, I don't remember exactly where in the state.

Anyway here goes.

In the state of Pennsylvania, back in the days that they had indian tribes in that part of the country, there was this one particular indian tribe. In that indian tribe there was the medicine man, he was a very strange fellow, a very odd individual who had this pecular obsession with the color purple. He would always be using the color purple, he would always be wearing it and he would often paint his face with purple paint. As it was, he became known as the purple bishop.

Secretly, the purple bishop was trying to get together an army to overthrow the chief, and so what he would do is he would go around asking people if they wanted to join his army. If you said yes he would take you in and if he said no he would kill you. It was a secret army and he wanted to keep it a secret so therefore if he asked you to join and you said no he would kill you right on the spot.

One day the purple bishop asked these two men if they wanted to join. The two men grabbed the purple bishop, tied him up, and hung him upside down from a tree by his ankles. They had a fire burning and so they lowered the purple bishop down into the fire and he burned to death. When they were done with him there was nothing left of the purple bishop but a pile of ashes.

That was the end of the purple bishop, or so they thought.

As it is, to this very day the purple bishop is still going around asking people if they want to join his army.

If you say no he kills you, and if you say yes he kills you.

Pretty good. But not scary.
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

Well I heard the story in boyscout camp, and I imagined the Purple Bishop to appear as an old indian man, dressed and painted in purple. Thats probably what he would appear like in picture.
