You beat me to it. Bring on Halloween. Can we skip Summer and go straight to Fall and Halloween?

I probably should think about dropping some seeds on the ground. Figured I'd wait later since last time they ripened a couple months early. Don't know what kind of success Ill have with the drought though.

I enjoyed skimming that Wiki article about Beltane. Interesting point from Frazer--that the dates of Beltane and Samhain are of little significance to agriculture but much significance to herdsmen, so those festivals probably pre-date the agricultural activities of the Celts.
We actually did have a "bonfire" of sorts last night, because my husband hosted a barbecue for his graduating high school seniors (our daughter among them). However, we weren't thinking about Walpurgisnacht or Beltane.
The year is certainly wheeling around!

Hard to believe it's half way already. I usually brint out the pumpkin spice coffee sometime after the 4th of July, so about two months until that. 3 months or so until the autumn/Halloween stuff will start to appear in the stores. Still hard to believe but it won't be long now. In the meantime I'm looking to enjoy summer.
Have a great day everyone.

Want some rain Nevermore? We have had enough to last the rest of summer but it keeps on coming on and on and on. I'll send some your way.
I agree with you fall fanatic. I want to enjoy summer first and I hope I get a chance to. Of course for me Summer doesn't really end until about August. I suppose that's partly because I enjoy my birthday during the summer and when I was growing up we didn't go back to school until September. Once September came, it was time to go back to School.

Feel free to build a big pipe and ship that water our way Mau. Along with below average rainfall we've had 18 months of above normal temperatures. 95° yesterday. So much for our perfect climate. The world is changing.

Indeed it is! My science Professor has stated that even though we've only raised the climate a few degrees, it makes all the difference. That's why all the bugs are coming further north.
Sure, maybe a pipe to send the water your way will create jobs.
I rather have water going your way than natural gas, like they're doing with the giant pipe people are protesting about.

You guys beat me to it! Was just about to post something about being halfway there. Speaking of, spirit halloween is having there halfway to halloween sale right now. I know some of you enjoy their store, but find their stuff too expensive. Pretty cool stuff they have on sale!

I've had this since last September and decided this is as good a time as any to carve it.
These are insanely dense and thick skinned, I don't recommend it.
As soon as I get the feeling back in my arm I'll attempt a face.

The numbness subsided so here is Jack, 6 months early.
