I "updated" from Ubuntu 18 -> 20 -> 22 -> 24 (that took quite a while!) and to php 8.3 and there turns out there is an issue so I went back to an earlier version and then will update phpbb and then go back to 8.3 sometime sooner vs later.

Anyway, posting is back now, sorry about that.

Thanks for the update.

Well, it looks like I jumped the gun and wasted 5 hours of my life the other night, it's a good thing that I don't need sleep or I would be ticked about it. Oh well, at least I have it as a backup.

Speaking of backing up, I found out that this forum was only backed up until Jul. 19th on the web archive, so I'm going to start backing up the whole forum later this week so that it's up to date, and I'll monitor it regularly so if this happens again we won't lose any posts.

Ha ha, yes. I was still getting the extra security updates but had kept delaying doing any huge update because I knew that going from a (very) old version of Ubuntu meant going from an equally old version of php (v5.xxxxxxx) to 8.3/8.4 all of which meant a lot of uninterrupted time needed to update things.

As your trusty site admin I must apologise that i didn't deliver a Hans Delbrook regarding this issue.

I blame TV...and congress.

Very nice!

I'm a little surprised I haven't seen any pumpkins at the grocery store yet.
