What Are Your Favorite "Top" Halloween Decorations

Post by Dutchess of Darkness » Sat Oct 13, 2007 4:29 am

What are your Favorite decorations, for example; For some, their must haves are Pumpkins or Witches, or Skeletons etc. Do you find yourself collecting a theme over time? or does your style run wild? If you were asked to list your top 3 items, or more what would they be?

Yup, my house over the years has become Jacko Lantern central. Each year I fnid myself buying a new light up pumpkin of some type.
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

I love all this kind of stuff, but at the very top are the Beistle cardboard decorations...I grew up seeing the jack o lantern and skeleton designs they put out in the 70's and I have always thought they were wonderful, beautiful.

Good question, DOD! :)

My top decorations are Jack O'Lanterns - as long as I have those, I am truly in the Halloween spirit.

It's soooo hard to choose, but I think my favourite 3 decorations (all bought this year, no less ;) hehe) are:

Skull fog machine
2ft Witch doll
Old-style Halloween Portrait

Black Cats make up the majority of my collection, followed by skulls and pumpkins. I've always been obsessed with cats though, and Halloween seems to be the only Holiday that honors the cat period.
I've been adding a bit more variety to my collection in recent years though. My mom gave me some witch decorations, I've been making the little tissue ghosts, and I added some crows to my collection.
But black cats will always be my favorite Halloween decoration, and if I see one priced reasonably enough I just can't resist buying it. Sadly, I still have an inflatable black cat that's sitting in the basement. And that's because I'm waiting until I move out to put it up, unless I can talk my grandma into letting me. She's gotten more tolerant of my Halloween obsession though, even though she still thinks it's the devil's holiday.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

My pumpkins - I love them -think they are just about the best part of Halloween.
Then my cemetary - we have made all of our headstones - A lot of memories in that - plus - they just look darn good.... :)
Then Bob - Bob was our first "Creepy Guy" - actually he was our first scary decoration that we made.... We have been very proud of him - he has done a really good job over the years.

I love anything vintage or primitive. Anything that looks old. I also tend to favor cats and pumpkins.

That's an eawy question to answer. In exact order

1. Jack O'Lanterns
2. Pumpkin lights
3. Photos that I shot of various Haunted Places
4. Skull lihts
5. A teathered bat
6. Cardboard Decorations
7. Spooky looking candles
8. My Plastic Jack O'Lanterns that adorn my speakers
9. My "headless Horseman" that I set up in my front yard using my motorcycle
10. Barnabass Collins poster

Those are my top ten. In fact, those are all the decorations I put up.

Looking through my collection I find mostly spiderwebs and witch items but I think I'm getting away from that.

The trend here seems to be JOLs and I think I will have to agree. Getting older, I like pumpkins and cats more and more. There's something classic and timeless about it. I'm actually doing a haunted pumpkin patch in my yard haunt this year.

ALTHOUGH...I have a soft spot in my heart for this guy. He's wooden and about 8 inches tall. His name is Simon. :D

lol I love his expression

'What are you looking at!? Can't an incorporeal being carry around a house cat without the police being notified?!' That's how my brother would say it.
