Hello people.
Me and my friend booked a Holiday in NYC from the UK this year and it just so happens that its dropped on the Halloween weekend.
Could anyone provide me with any recommendations for things to do? Anyone know of anything happening? Anywhere to go etc?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Greetings from another Englishman.
I've been to NYC twice but never on Halloween, so I wouldn't know of Halloween related things to do. Have you tried the net? I'll imagine there'll be a few Halloween parties going on.
You'll have an awesome time there though. As far as i'm concerned NYC is the greatest city in the world! I love it & would love to live there

You could always head up the Hudson River to Sleepy Hollow. That town has a somewhat famous literary history. You may get lucky and see the headless horsman. Just remember to get across the covered bridge before he catches you.

Me and my girlfriend have been there in NYC before, but we don't know nothing about Halloween over there. We don't know any haunted houses or attractions in NYC.
Hope you will have good time in NYC.

That would be a cool place to check out. It looks lovely.
Have you ever visited?

Nope, but sure would be a cool way to spend All Hallow's Eve.
If anyone decides to do this, first you must watch...

Nevermore gave some great links. I have heard about that Greenwich Village parade. It is very famous. That is an area of the city where a lot of gay people, and theater people, I suppose, live. They know how to party. I believe that Halloween parade has even been shown on cable TV in the States, but I don't subscribe to cable, so I have never seen it that way.

Although, it's open all year around. You can visit, Jekyll and Hyde Restaurant. They have shows and good entertainment.

In the Summer of 93 I attended a "Dark Shadows" festival at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in NYC, and I loved it. I didn't fly out there, because I HATED the NYC airports, but taking the motorcycle was actualy a lot of fun, and the guy in charge of the parking garage where I parked my bike actualy put the bike in his office to keep it safe. It cose mt abut 60 bucks ( in 1993 gasoline prices) to drive the bike to NYC, 90 bucks to park it, and 60 to drive it back home to the town where I was living at the time, the arm pit of Illinois, New Lenox.
I did have a great time there in Manhattan, and would love to bike out there again some time. Be very careful, however when visiting NYC or any American big city. There are some very rough neighborhoods that should be avoided at all costs.
On a side note, I might also suggest that a great time can be had in Chicago, too. There are a lot of haunted places in Chicago and the surrounding area, and tons of 'haunted' tours available to all us Halloween lovers. In fact, Chicago has been touted as being one of the most haunted major cities in America. Again, though, there are some parts of Chicago you DO NOT go into if you value your life.

I've been to Chicago twice in my life, and I enjoyed it both times. Great city. Coincidentally, I've also been to NYC twice, and I enjoyed it thoroughly, as well. But, yeah, in both places it pays to stick to the tourist-oriented areas.
