Fake Blood

It's a recipe right??
A few years ago I made blood for sheets and it was red in the bucket, but pink on the sheets. Two years ago I made some more and it was a beautiful red in the bucket AND on the sheets. This year we used corn starch and it was nice and red, but terrible to work with. The stuff I used before was non sticky and pretty watery, but worked fantastic.
Any ideas? Thanks

Well . . . this year some friends and I are going on a zombie pub crawl (totally cool, I know) I found some recipes but I'm not sure. I don't want to use corn syrup, that was really a ***** to deal with. Edible blood would seem the best option since it could possibly be oozing out of our mouths . . . .

Well...tomato juice and ketchup could probably pass for fake blood.
Or maybe some kind of strawberry jelly could be edible guts.
