Central State Hospital

Post by screamfarm » Wed Aug 21, 2013 4:19 pm

Anyone been to the Central State Hospital in Indianapolis, IN? My wife and her friends used to go ghost hunting there years ago. Said a lot of creepy stuff is going on there. When we first met, she took me to the graveyard there and I had an encounter with a ghost which I thought was wild. Anyone been or have had experiences there?

I've never been there myself, but it's certainly on my 'haunted road trip' agenda.

Did TAPS ever visit it? Speaking of which, is Ghost Hunters even still on the air? I know the one dude, Grant?, left the show but now that I don't have cable I no longer pay attention.

I think there was an eposide of "Ghost Hunters" on SyFy a few nights ago, but I never really got into it. I am not a huge fan of 'reality tv,' not even 'reality' shows about ghost hunting and paranormal events.

Mike you outta hop on one of those shows or start your own... maybe a youtube channel?
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Hey Mike, if you ever get to Germany put this place on your agenda. Don't forget your camera. I don't know what's creepier, the condition of the place or the fact that everything was left where it lay. That doll in the buggy is certainly creeptastic.

WOW!!! That would well worth the cost of a trip to Germany. I also have to wonder what happened that a wealthy doctor would leave all that very expensive equipment, grand pianos, expensive cloths, books and other things, and never return to get any of it. What drove that family out of that mansion?

How weird that they don't seem to know who that family was or what happened to them. The disappearance doesn't seem to have happened that long ago, at the most 50 years, maybe less time than that. There ought to be deeds to the property on file, stuff like that. And maybe newspapers detailing some tragedy.

I wonder if the house could be restored? It looks like it was once quite beautiful.

Earlier this summer, when I was reading Ghosts of Mississippi, I read about an antebellum mansion that had been left derelict for decades. A family moved into it in the 1960s, when it was so run-down it could be bought for almost nothing. They were not a wealthy family, but they were enterprising, and over the decades, they completely restored that mansion. Now it is a showplace.

The phone looks like its from the 80's, but even then it would be 20 to 30 ago.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

That's exactly what I'm curious about, Murf and Andy. Looking through those pictures, I saw expensive cloths, medical equipment, exray machine, jewelry, including some rather expensive looking watches, paintings, furnature, and not to mention the house and property themselvs. That house and the property it's on must be worth a fortune. Even just the property has to be worth over a million dollars. That house was like something right out of an episode of "The Twilight Zone," or "Thriller." What happened at that house, and when?
