Re: Whats your favorite food for Thanksgiving?
Yes! Love oysters! I have to do an oyster dressing, and I usually do a good sage one, also.
Cornbread is tasty, too!
How is everyone cooking turkey this year? The old traditional way? Frying? I would love to try the fried recipe, but I'm not sure I'll like it enough to actually do one.

I've never had fried turkey before... but, some people did like fry the turkey. I only do bake turkey. Collard greens are so good! Dinner rolls are very good!

If you want to try to fry your turkey, then you can find any recipes via Google online. Maybe try at www.santaclaus.com/forums and check in "Recipes" section.Belladonna wrote:I would love to try the fried recipe, but I'm not sure I'll like it enough to actually do one.

Going to aunt and uncle's house this year, but the day after I'm getting up early to hit the grocery store and get a half priced turkey, which I'll brine for 24 hours and then oven roast. Because I want leftovers, and dammit, I will have them!!!!

Re: Whats your favorite food for Thanksgiving?
Thanks all, for weighing in on the turkey question! I'm still trying to decide which way I'll do it this year.
*Sigh* Decisions, decisions!
A couple of years I went with a mix of S. American herbs as a rub inside and out and then basted it with red wine. Amazingly good.

I'm not kidding; since I have the house to myself this year I'm going to buy a smoked ham and some instant stuffing.
I'm going to spend 4 days devouring a pig and large bowls of herbed bread, all the while putting up Christmas decorations and watching Christmas movies.
Completely self-indulgent and greedy!

You can't spend Thanksgiving alone, Andy! Tell you what; I'll dye my hair white, and you sell some shower curtain rings. We'll meet in Chicago, then take a canceled flight, a derailed train, a broken down bus, and then a burned out car ride all the way back to Maryland, and you can come have dinner with me and my extended family.
Just don't think I'm sharing a hotel bed with you.

Witchy, I wish you would be there for all of our families and friends so you can help and cook with them! But, that is okay.
By the way, anyone like to eat turkey livers? I love to eat turkey livers!
