Post by iHaunt » Wed Apr 27, 2011 10:40 pm

I would like to leave a wee note to let you all know that I will be here to check out every day and some nites because right now I am working extra hour on my job as the cemetery night watchman. ;) That's why I didn't come around to post and reply everything here, also I am really little pissed off about the job, but I'm doing okay with it. :)

So, no worries.... I'll be around here for all of you. :D Take care everyone!

Are you kidding me? Thats a dream job for me! I would LOVE to be a security guard at a cemetary! Man, I envy you. No thats was not sarcasm.

I know that I do love to work at the cemetery, but I might have to leave by the end of this summer b/c I was hoping to work at the haunted attraction in September or October for all year round. :D

I used to patrol a cemetery (among other places) when I worked as a security guard and the only thing that used to creep me out was the cement vault/cover things all stacked up in the back of the place. I used to walk around reading the tomb stones, and reading the ones in the kids area too (sad).
The only really bad part was dealing with the people that were in there after hours (10pm to 8am) to party, or the couple that comes up there to make out, or the drunk relative talking to the deceased.
We used to say it wasnt the dead people you had to worry about up there....

I've never been in a cemetery after hours, but my mother told me that her father used to sleep in one when he was a kid (teenager, I guess). He was born in 1875 in AR, and his home situation was not good. Father murdered in his store when my grandfather was 2, then mother died of cancer when he was 11. His grandmother finished raising him, but they didn't get along, so sometimes, as he got older, he just wouldn't come home at night.

He told my mother that the cemetery was the safest place on earth for a kid to spend the night in those days. Evidently he had no belief in/fear of ghosts, either.

cemeteries are pretty quiet at night as long as there arent any people partying there. I remember going there and seeing piles of dirt with tarps over them and plywood over the holes in preparation for a funeral the next day. One time I lifted up the plywood to look inside and I could see the cement vaults on either side in the dirt, they really pack people in there....
This cemetery was a cemetery/funeral home, I'm glad I never found the door open because I would have hated walking through that place to clear it...I might have shot a dead body....
For those of you that have never had to clear a building, you go through with a flashlight and your gun drawn looking for who ever is in there, if you happen upon a person sometimes it kind of spooks ya...so.....

Most cemeteries have "haunt stoeies" about them, which is why they are often visited by strangers. Some of the more infamous ones, like Bachelors Grove, have been havens for valdalism and total disrespect, whish is why they all have rules abainst anyone visiting after dusk, and many do have to hire security guards to keep out the riff-raff. It's really too bad, but when I visited Bachelors Grove last Summer, there were numerous tomb stones knocked over, the place was totaly over grown with weeds and the like, and the mosquitos were horible. The sad thing is that it was also, at one time, a beautiful resting place where people burried their loved ones, and when it became a major attraction for ghost hunters, it also became a major attraction for trouble makers.

That's why I never take anything but pictures, and will never leave anything but foot prints.

Some teenagers came around the cemetery, and when I caught them I asked them to leave please. They did listen and said sorry for trespassing. I told them that's okay, but if you come back again I will notify to police so they said they won't come back again at night. Guess they love to come around the cemetery, smoking cigarettes, talking, sitting on the slab. :?
