I enjoyed reading your blog. You are younger than I am, so some of your picks are a little different from mine. For example, I have never seen the Garfield Halloween. I was too old to watch it for myself, and I didn't yet have children when it was made.

Pet Semetary bothered me a lot when I first saw it, because my first child was a little younger than the toddler who dies in the movie, and that was difficult for me to watch.

I do enjoy The Shining, although I wouldn't put it at the top of my own list.

When I was a child in the '60s, I saw The Haunting (with Julie Harris) on TV. For many years I thought that was the scariest movie ever. I still like it quite a bit, and worlds better than the '90s remake. I really prefer eerie movies to gory ones. A current favorite of mine is The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Many people apparently don't even like that one, but its eerie atmosphere and ambiguity get to me. For kid-friendly Halloween movies, I think Hocus Pocus tops my list.

I appreciate your feedback I do like the exorsism of emily rose. I like the actor that plays the laywer a lot. Seen him in a few other movies. I also like the errie ones as well Gore is just sw shock value and there is nothing scary about it.

Ever see 'Ghost Story'? Oldie but truly creepy. Stars some classic actors from Hollywood's heyday. Every time I see Alice Krige in something now the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Probably why I liked her so much as the Borg queen.

I remember when Ghost Story was in theaters, but I never saw it. I know Alice Krige mainly from Chariots of Fire.

The male actor who played the prosecuting attorney in Emily Rose was Campbell Scott, son of George C. Scott (Patton) and Colleen Dewhurst. The female attorney and lead was Laura Linney. She and Campbell Scott are friends from way back, and I believe she may have been the one who got him involved in that project.

That is one of my favorite Fred Astaire movies.

I haven't seen Misery in years, but I do recall that it was good. Didn't Kathy Bates win the Oscar for that role?

Silence of the Lambs is one of the classics for sure, but what I recall best is how the Jeffrey Dahmer story broke right about that time. I was thinking back then that truth had out-stripped fiction.

Hi Tantraman, have been reading over your blog and really like it. I feel the need to set the record straight on one item though; in your Sept 26 post you state that Creepshow was the first multi horror movie and I'm afraid that's just not true. Horror anthologies (as they are called) go all the way back to the silent movie era with the first believed to have been made in Germany. In 1975 a significant American anthology was shown on TV as a movie of the week called "Trilogy of Terror" all based on Richard Matheson stories and is considered the beginning of an American revival of the genre of which Creepshow is numbered.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I'll definitely stop by your blog again soon.
