I Want To Be Barf! Please Help!

Post by RhHoffa30 » Thu Sep 06, 2007 10:18 am

I am a big guy and around Halloween time I usually struggle to find a costume that I like that actually fits. This year I came up with the idea to go as Barf from the movie Spaceballs. The problem is that there are no premade costumes, ok not a big deal. I figured if I wanted to make one myself I better get started soon but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how i can go about putting together a Barf costume. Also let me know what you think of the idea or if anyone has another other suggestions I am always open to them. I am primarily going to be wearing what ever costume I end up with to a buddies annual Halloween Bash. Any help or suggestions that anyone can provide me with are greatly appreciated. Last year I went to the party as a pirate captain and a group of my friends went as the crew and the year before that i went as a doctor so those two costumes have been done. this year im looking for something good and creative. thanks in advance :)

Well, you're going to have to track down a jumpsuit somehow, and I couldn't tell you where to start. I'm not sure if there are patterns for something like that but it does resemble a ghostbusters outfit so you might try that avenue, but of course you're going to need to know sewing. I guess it depends on your budget.

As for the face I think simple make-up will do. If your hair is long enough on top you can use hair spray and gel to mimic the ears.

Is there a farm co-op in your town? They have all kinds of coveralls in all sorts of sizes. I think for the hair/ears, I'd go with a wig with ears (possibly made out of felt/fur) sewn on. The makeup is a cinch, make a namepatch with "Bart" on it, and there you go.

You could also look at any military surplus stores or a ragstock if you have one around . . .
