I'm so sorry I didn't see this query sooner. I have a ton of Halloween cookbooks, but probably it's too late to help now.
You didn't say what displeased you about the on-line recipes. Why not just opt for a traditional autumnal meal? I like pork roast seasoned with apple cider, apples, onions, potatoes. Or you could save the apples for a side dish of baked apples. Maybe have a squash or pumpkin gratin.
My family likes a dessert called Trick or Treat Trifle. You layer devil's food cake, Cool Whip, and crumbled Heath bars. Top with chocolate syrup or caramel sauce.
Of course, roast your pumpkin seeds for an appetizer!
