Do you have a special way to carve a pumpkin?

Some of these I can't believe people actually did though. I like some of the ideas on here, some of them are a little silly though.

I thought they were pretty neat. To be honest, I was looking for ideas and inspiration for my own. Though I often take off and do my own take on things. :)

This has just erupted into a crazy and cool thing. I have no talent in jack o lantern making but enjoy seeing the art this has become.

As an update to this thread, I found some more creative ways to decorate pumpkins...and this is NOT an exhaustive list.
I might get some ideas for my own this year.
That is, if I have good luck with pumpkins this year. But I know I'll get plenty of gourds that's for sure!

As cute as these are, it's sad that they'll rot. But I really admire the creativity here.

Little sad that there's no Sonic pumpkins here. I'll have to see if I can find one.

But if I'm going to put this much effort into something, I'd prefer to do it on a funkin' or something so it can last from year to year.

But me and the Sped department did decorate a Harry Potter pumpkin last year:

Image

Me and the Sped teacher's daughter painted it, I put the eyes on and brought in a witch hat. I also made a little "Hedwig" pumpkin for him. Sped teacher also made the scarf. I don't think it turned out bad. I made the glasses too.

Unfortunately, we didn't win the pumpkin contest. But it was still a lot of fun! I'm glad we got to participate. Especially since my Sped teacher commented that we don't usually get to participate in events like that and often get overlooked. We have students too! We have classes! Sped is important! I do wish they'd remember that. (Especially as I mentioned before, all the hard work that goes into Sped! I'm sure Murf's husband can sympathize!)

I think your Harry and Hedeig pumpkins are very creative! Absolutely the SPED students need representation in these things!

I love all those other photos, too especially the little lion. I, too, prefer to use Funkins if I'm going to put so much effort into them. However, I do find Funkins harder to carve than natural pumpkins.

Thank you! I thought adding a little Hedwig using a jack be little type pumpkin was a nice touch. It was certainly fun to do for sure!

I can't take credit for the other designs, but I agree the lion is just adorable. :)

I haven't really tried with funkins. I got a fake pumpkin once for a cat themed set that was supposed to go into a pumpkin so I could have a decent display with it, but I think it got ruined. I'm not sure where the set went. It's somewhere in storage.

I did find a design with Sonic that looked pretty good. Maybe I should try my own version:

As a big Sonic fan, I approve! (And I'm looking forward to the Sonic 3 movie. With all the hype, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some Sonic related things for Halloween. That would get me excited both for the movie, and for Halloween season!)

I wanted to carve Funkins to memorialize each of my deceased pets, but I succeeded with only one of them. I had a good pattern for a cat, but not for a dog when my dog passed. I tried, but I never finished hers, and I just sort of gave up on that project.

Can you post a photo of your dog's face, something close-up with good contrast?

I can try to make a template for you.

Oh, my. I'll have to think about that. I probably do have some actual photos of her. I'll have to hunt, and then figure out how to post one. Thanks so much for that offer!

Those memorial pet pumpkins sound like a great idea!
I take it you use a pet's picture and convert it onto a template, and then project it onto the pumpkin's surface?
I don't have a projector myself, but it would be interesting to learn the process.
Well, not that kind of projector anyway. I have the kind used for projecting holiday images on our house. I can't wait to try the new Halloween slide I have this year.
Murf if you want to post a picture, you'll need some kind of image source host website. Although you can technically use Discord for that. I used to use photobucket but they seemed to have faded out my images that I've posted in the past. I don't even think I could get into my account.
Anyone know of any image hosting sites that would work for Murf?
