Those pumpkins were indeed amazing! Such artistry! And I enjoyed the vintage posters/ads, too.
Pierogis are a Northern thing, Polish, I guess. I'd never even heard of them, nor had my husband, before we watched an episode of America's Test Kitchen on PBS. We asked each other, What are they making? Potatoes inside dough? A couple of years later, when I was visiting my son in Ohio, we went up to Cleveland for the day, and I saw them on a menu. A pierogi sandwich on artisanal rosemary bread. I kid you not, pierogis as the filling of a sandwich. Not knowing any better, I ordered it. It tasted good, but it was so heavy I could eat only half of it (I did take the rest of it home). So my curiosity about pierogis has been satisfied. Now I see them frozen at my local Kroger, so I guess they are catching on around here. But I'm not buying them.
