Dreyer's Pumpkin Ice Cream!!!

Post by One Eye'd Jack » Thu Oct 04, 2007 3:02 am

I wasn't even sure that anyone was making this, this year but I knew that if it was out there, I'd find it! And sure enough the Freddy's that we now live close to is one of the nicest in the Portland metro area and there it was............................

It's so absolutely WONDERFUL it tastes JUST like frozen pumpkin pie.

And SINCE this is a recipe thread... how 'bout this...
Get yourself a hi-ball glass and put in two scoops of 'Dreyer's Limited edition Pumpkin Ice Cream'
Then, fill the glass with your favorite Vodka, Rum or Whiskey! I prefer 'Three Olives' vodka!

Mmmmmmmmmwwaaa!!!!!!! tasty!!!!

Wow that sounds scrummy! :D

Not that they will sell it here in the UK, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for it anyway!

Do they sell pumpkin food products in the UK? I remember a Brit saying he thought the idea of a pie made of pumpkin was disgusting. He obviously never had one, with some whipped cream on top. After all, the pumpkin is a fruit — it grows on a vine.

They do sell some pumpkin food products here in the UK.. but it's mainly pumpkin seeds or fruit bars with pumpkin in.. and obviously they sell pumpkins around Halloween time, but I've never seen a Pumpkin Pie being sold, or pumpkin flavoured beer/ice cream/coffee :( I think Starbucks may have trialled it a couple of years back, but the interest wasn't really there.

Traditionally, it was turnips that were carved as JOL's here in the UK, as the pumpkin wasn't a native fruit - it was America that introduced us to the pumpkin and it was happily adopted as the tool for JOL's, but England never properly embraced the pumpkin as a food for Halloween, which is a big shame. At least Asda's magazine this year had some great Halloween/Autumn pumpkin recipes in, so perhaps the balance is slowly shifting :D

I read that Jerry's Home Stores imports a lot of Libby's pumpkin puree at this time of year. If you can find a can, the pumpkin pie recipe on the back is excellent.

Not sure if anyone has one of these close to them or even heard of them but Dairy Queen offers a Pumpkin Pie Blizzard this time of the year. I absolutely love it and can't wait. It comes out soon. Here is the link..

All alone in the woods with nothing but the smell of smoke from the camp fire, cracking leaves as you walk and seeing your breath from the cold crisp air. Halloween is my favorite time of the year!
