Re: Good Themes?
If you mean you are sticking with one theme this year try a graveyard theme.
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.

I have a 100 year old house, so I allways go with a haunted house kind of a theme when I have my party at my house. I know that's sort of cliche, but I look at it as a tradition more then a cliche.

cliches only become cliches because they ring true.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

This may sound stupid. But I seem to be behind on everything. What is a cliche?Pumpkin_Man wrote:I have a 100 year old house, so I allways go with a haunted house kind of a theme when I have my party at my house. I know that's sort of cliche, but I look at it as a tradition more then a cliche.

Re: Good Themes?
I want to do a pirate ship theme one year when I've got some money.
I cliche is something that everyone has said or done.
For example: All celebrities that are nominated for the Oscars say "I don't care if I win, I'm just glad to be nominated." That saying is sooooo cliche because EVERYONE else says it, it's become the norm.

Re: Good Themes?
i wanted to do a boothill theme this year introducing western materials etc , with the boothill graves and wagon wheels etc. but the cost was gona be too much for new props.
and people could come in western gear bar girls , cowboys etc. had plans for chilli and beers and sittin on haybales.
but have opted for all rooms to have a haunted theme just not gorey. as i have these props year in year out. everyone just is halloweeny dressed.
good luck if ya pick a new theme

Re: Good Themes?
Halloween Master, a lot of "old sayings" are considered to be cliches. Sayings like "It's not over until the fat lady sings," or "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Many people consider traditions to be chiches. For instance, singing " Happy Birthday" before the "Birthday boy or girl" blows out the candles on the birthday cake is considered to be a tradition by most, but a chlcie by many.

There was a movie out titled "Vampire Circus." It was about a traveling circus where all the performers were vampires.

Re: Good Themes?
We have had an annual party every year now since 99. We have had such themes as:
Come as your favorite dead person
You must be mythtaken, myth, folktale and ghost stories
Classic tv
They died in infamy
Whoville or Horroville, design your own who or horror
Pirates
Dreams or nightmares
a few others and this year we are doing a murder mystery party.

Re: Good Themes?
next year we're doing a back water woods style halloween... rusted props.. very low lit and chill and a little more violent than what we've done this year
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I used to live in a Victorian house that was built in the 1860s. It had a turret room and was so cool, especially during Halloween. The house sat on a corner lot, which made it stand out even more. It had so much character and was the perfect house for Halloween and a Halloween party.
