Re: The Strangers
I understand RDM. I went through the same thing growing up. It's frustrating but just know they love you and they're looking out for you.
Now at the same time I still don't agree with some of my parents rules I had to abide by when I was younger, but that's life. You'll be grown before you know it and then you'll have to deal with adult things that make teenage issues seem like nothing.
I used to badmouth my parents as well. It's normal.

Re: The Strangers
Jeez... Just like every kid has many problems with their parents all the time... Same thing to me before... My mom and dad married in 1979, then they divorced in 1980... My mom got married again with another man in 1980 (my stepfather) which I really, really dislike him at all!!!
My mom signed up my last name which was 100% fake, but I decided to change it myself with that old last name back again!!! My social worker were planning to take me out of the family situations, you know, many problems, but luckily, my grandparent protected them from taking me out... They took care of me since I was kid! Too many reasons here, I really don't want to discuss here.

Re: The Strangers
The Strangers DVD is coming out October 21st. Just in time for Halloween. There's supposedly a director's cut which just adds a couple more minutes of footage. I still suggest this movie to all who haven't seen it.
I'm going as the man in the mask from the movie (see my avatar) for Halloween. Me and my wife made a replica mask that I'm not entirely pleased with so we're going to make another til we get it perfect. Then I just need an old brown suit. I love this character in the movie.
I've already ordered the "Pin Up Girl" mask for my wife.

Re: The Strangers
I have to admit to doing some research about this movie before I watched it from DVD.
I did this because I felt there was more to be the story, simply because it says it is "inspired by true events".
So, I googled it and it appears that the movie is loosely based on a few different events, and could even be based on something that did happen in real life.
So that freaked me out, I kept thinking "How could someone go through that?" as I watched the movie.
The movie is about a couple that is terrorized by a group of people who mysteriously show up one night to a rural house in the middle of nowhere.
It begins with a late night knock on the door and what seems like a confused girl looking for someone
the wrong place.
It slowly escalates from there and the tension becomes palpable. I soon learn that this lost girl is actually part of a group of three people set on terrorizing and ultimately killing this couple.
But why do they kill them? Well, it seems like for no reason other than the fact that they were in the wrong place
the wrong time. The couple is chosen
random because they happen to be
the house (which is really something like a summer cabin).
The story goes through some twists and turns and
a few points you think they might get out of this alive.
In the end I don't really know if they do - I think one of them may survive, but I wasn't sure.
I give this movie an A+ for it's fear factor. It's the type of movie that makes you ensure your doors are locked
night and makes you think twice about answering the door to the strangers.
What's more is it makes me think about the summer hideaway - very similar to the one in the movie, who knows, maybe that's why it freaked me out so much.
But in the end, if you want to watch something suspenseful and entertaining, I highly recommend this movie.
Good Luck!

This movie looks good! I WANT TO SEE IT!
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

Re: The Strangers
Guess what??? I was so sucked because "The Strangers" is now TV On Demand, and I didn't even think of it! Too late, I rented it from video store. Next time, I have to check with TV on Demand before renting the freaking DVD!

This might be interesting depending on what route they take it. If any of you haven't seen it I still highly recommend it.

I had a cerfew when I was a teenager, too. I didn't involve computers, because we didn't have them back then, but I did have to have to be in no later then 9 pm if it was a school night and 11 pm on a Friday or Saturdaynight. When I started driving, the car had to be home by those same times.
My parents weren't too strict, however, about what movies we watched on tv or at the theatres when we were in our teens. When I was a little kid, however, that was a whole other story. I was not allowed to see "The Exorcist" when it was in the theatres. I was also not allowed to see any of the "Dark Shadows" movies, and I was not allowed to see "Tales of the Crypt."
What a bummer.

Re: The Strangers
I myself was lucky when it came to my parent. She was (still is) big horror and heavy metal/classic rock fan, so I really never had a problem with curfews and the like. I remember at 6, my first horror movie being Nosferatu (the old, silent film).
As far as The Strangers goes, I didn't care for it. I felt that the opening 30 mins were completely boring, and felt that, aside from Liv Tyler's performance (I feel its wasted here, and I'd be pleased to see her do more horror work), the acting was horrible. It was like someone was trying to merge A Clockwork Orange (The best home invasion horror ever IMO) with Halloween, and it just wasn't working. The end was the only good part, but very confusing. I hope that the next one is better, if not, they can call the series over and done with.
