How can ANYONE make a computer that just restarts

when you are in the middle of something!?!?!?! This just happened to me a few minutes ago! I was just in the middle of reading something on here when this thing popped up on the bottom of the screen saying something about restarting the computer to install updates. I selected remind me in 4 hours. A minute later this thing popped up again and said the computer was going to restart in 4 minutes. I got mad, exited everything out that I was doing, and selected restart now. Something else pops up asking me if I want to restart the computer I click cancel. Then I go back to these forums thinking the computer will not restart and right when I am in the middle of reading something everything exits out on me and the computer restarts with no warning!! Hello? I thought I said restart in 4 hours?! Then when the <deleted> stupid computer decides to restart in 4 minutes I select cancel. Then it decides to restart anyways. HOW CAN ANYONE MAKE A COMPUTER THAT DOES THIS TO PEOPLE?!?!?!!?

What if I was writing a very important E-mail to the president? I need to send it now or America will be blown up. Then the computer fucks off like that? America would be doomed!

I'm not really familiar with this restart thing on the computer, but some people may have the same thing too... Well, have you talked to your mom or dad about this computer problem? Maybe you need to contact your own IPS and see what they have to do with it.

I dunno what happened. I get all kinds of update messages on my laptop, but like you said you can just postpone it for a certain amount of time. I don't know why it'd just go ahead and start the updates and restart itself. The only time mine restarts is when I tell it to.

dont worry dude!!!! same thing here,,, its this window that always gets me! popped up earlier today too...its really tricky,, but there is three settings- restart now, 10 minutes, or 4 hours... i think some how the ten minute button was pushed,,, same thing my computer does and ive lost loads of info cause of it,, at least you dont have a gay avg who always has a update every time i go on taking 5 minutes to download,,,stupid thing

Just now I was looking at the message boards at imdb.com and a bunch of windows start popping up for no reason. These are not pop up ads. They are windows that are at the same website I am on. With my parents in the room I could not hit the computer or they would kill me. If they were not in here right now I would bash the computer to pieces!!!!! This happens all the time!

That's happened to me b4! My parents were in the room too but I stil beat up the computer! And they were like "STEPHANIE MARIE O'LANTERN!" MY parents scare me sometimes!

I know some people are getting angry over the computer because of this similar problems... But, hey - you will never know some parents can block their computer from kids just like you do!!! Be sure to check yourself out before it's too late!

Rising Dead Man, this happens to my PC as well. A random window pops up saying Restart windows to install updates, I set it to remind me in 4 hours and like a minute afterwards it shuts down! I don't know why.

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!

That happened to my e-machine about a year ago. A pop-up said that it was installing soft wear, and when it restarted, I had a very nasty worm that made it impossible for me to go in the web or do anything. WinSpywereProtect was the name of this worm. It holds your computer hostage until you pay some one to shut down their program. I actualy bought a new Compaque Presario for 300 bucks before I would give those hustlers the satisfaction.

My daughter has an emachines comp and it shuts off all by itself too, no warning or anything. I will have to wait till Black Friday to buy her a new one, it lasted 3 years so I guess that's good and I got it for $199.00. The Compaq Presario that I'm on now is excellent, I bought it 2 years ago for $110 off of Craigslist by someone who's business closed and it still works great, no problems. I will just keep adding ram to it to keep it fast. I don't like to replace things until the wheels fall off! LOL

I certainly would like to find the joker who wrote that worm in my e-machine computer and ring his neck good for him. That's basicaly a program designed to extort money from some one by holding their computer hostage. I also have photos, music, financial records, my household budget and other information on that machine that I can't access. I dare not try to put that same info on my new computer for fear that I might infect it. Well, I don't know about the death penalty, but I certainly think that if you write a virus, and it destroy's some one's computer, you should be punished the same way as if you had stolen that computer. And the WinVirusProtect come-on writer should probably be brought up on extortion charges.

When I bought that e-machine, it was an EXCELENT computer. Fast, easy to navigate, and priced within reach. I barely got a years use out of it before that horrid worm got into it.

Before I bought that e-machine computer, I had an old Compaq Pressarrio that I bought back in the 90s. It was a great computer for it's time, and still works. I can't surf the web with it any more, but I can use it to write my stories and the like. It has a frew bugs in it, but it will work for some basic non Internet functions. The Compaq I'm using now is probably the best computer I ever owned. I got it as a Christmas present last year from my sister.
