Favorite 'Dracula' movie?
The other night, the Mrs and I were watching a show called 'Bloodsucking Cinema'. I was all about the fascination and evolution of Dracula (and vampires in general, kinda) in the movie.
I thought it was VERY good. Yet, as it went on, my antisipation of seeing them do something on MY favorite Dracula movie grew and grew until finally the darn CREDITs started to roll and they didn't do ANYTHING on it!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it 'cuz at the time it really DID set a new standard for Dracula movies!!!!!
Anyone remember the 1979 version with Frank Langella??? Dracula
I really do think it still is the best one to date. How about you?

I've yet to see the 1979 Frank Langella version. People also say the BBC television version Count Dracula (1977), with Louis Jourdan, was quite memorable, and faithful to the novel.
Of the ones I've seen, Nosferatu (1922) and Horror of Dracula (1958) are the best. I like all the lurid aspects of the latter, and the visual innovation of the former.
The Bela Lugosi Dracula (1931) is slow and stately in a good way in its first part, set in Transylvania. Then it becomes just slow and talky in the middle section.

Cadaverino, have you ever seen a movie called Shadow of the Vampire?......i think.... anyhoo, it's a fictional film about the making of Nosferatu and in this movie they had cast Max Schreck who was a real vampire. Not a great film, but not too bad either, it's interesting for fans of vampire lore.
The Frank Langella Dracula is CLASSIC. I've never seen the original Dracula but I've always had a soft spot for Bela Lugosi. And though Keanu Reeves and Winnona Ryder were horribly miscast, I love Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Re: Favorite 'Dracula' movie?
While nothing beats the 1931 film, I thought 'Dracula 2000' was very good. I like how it continued and updated Stoker's original story. Gotta love the "I don't drink.... coffee" line. The explanation of Dracula's origins was pretty trick too. Great music, sexy girls playing his brides. The girls love the movie because Gerard Butler stars, and plays a very convincing Dracula. This, along with Burton's 'Sleepy Hollow' are two of my must see films at Halloween time.
'Dracula 2000' also had two sequels. I thought they were quite enjoyable but a lot of folks were upset because they used a different actor in each movie. The official explanation is that Dracula's face changes with each reincarnation. Rutger Hauer plays him in the third movie. It is a bit weird seeing a blonde Dracula though.
There was also one big conflict with the first movie. I just say that obviously Mary and Simon are guarding the wrong body, they showed them being switched in the morgue in the second movie.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

But 'Interview with a Vampire' isn't a Dracula movie. Lost Boys is one of my favorite vampire movies.adrian wrote:Slightlymad wrote:I must say that my 2 favs are brohm stokers dracula and interveiw with a vampire

Re: Favorite 'Dracula' movie?
"Dracula" starring Bela Lugosi
"House of Dracula"
"Dracule" the Dan Curtis version
"Dracula" the Hammer version
"Son of Dracula"
"Dracula's Daughter"
That's my list of absolute favs.

The name of the song is 'Cry Little Sister' by Gerard McMann. I REALLY like that song. It makes my Halloween music mix every year.
Here's another version.
