Yay I get to decorate the college campus!

What do you like to decorate with? That bucket of blood?

Yay I get to decorate the college campus!

Post by DemonSlayerMau » Tue Sep 08, 2009 9:12 pm

Any suggestions? I'm not entirely sure what all I'll be doing yet, but I think I've got the green light from the receptionist to decorate. I probably won't get around to it until sometime in October however, but I'll have to discuss the details with her more.
She pretty much just said I can't put up anything really gory...it has to be appropriate for all ages. I'm fine with that, I'll probably be able to do more with the campus than I will at home! Hahaha.
They might have stuff at the school to use, and I was thinking making use of construction paper can help. If I have to provide the supplies...weeelll...then I'll have to go cheap! But I have seen some nice decorations so far that are cheap enough that won't be too scary.
I contemplated getting other college students involved in decorating too, but I'd have to discuss that with her. Not only that, but my schedule's really hectic right now. But I do plan on taking a day to go down there and decorate. Or even an evening after work. It shouldn't take more than a few hours right? But I gotta prepare.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

if you get a package or two of black construction paper you can cut out tons of bats crows and black cats to tape on the walls. it's a little time-consuming but very inexpensive and they look great when they're all up.
"the crows seem to be calling my name." thought Caw

Yeah I have done that before too with the black construction paper. I'm always trying to do things cheap since I never have much money to spend. Hopefully you can find some other supplies around the school that they will allow you to use.

When I decorate our office I set out Autumn picks and preserved leaves in small vases all around the lobby, then fill in with discrete Halloween items like foam and real JOL's, garland, etc.

After Halloween take out the spooky stuff and leave the Autumn up until Thanksgiving weekend.

I posed these somewhere else, but here's some examples.

The big arrangement cost less than $30.00. You gotta shop those sales!

The little pail has fake mums in it, together they were less than $5.00

You can make a lot of decorations yourself and really cheap and they will look great! Making things out of construction paper is always a must. Dollar stores usually have a great selection of simple but fun decorations and buying some rolls of black and orange streamers will add to everything. get a few pumpkins (weither you carve them or not) and maybe a fog machine and you're set!

Good luck and have fun! :D

The receptionist did say they do have stuff there to work with, but she needs to check out what they've got. I'd love to contribute some things though.
As for the flowers and pumpkins and stuff, I think dollar tree has some assortments. If I did contribute money I wouldn't want to spend more than $20.00. I'm on a very tight budget.
Construction paper would probably work too. I'll probably check out dollar general again, they had some nice things there for a low price.
And if I could find a nice little black cat, that would mark my style. There's gotta be at least one black cat. Every holiday decorated by me needs a cat in it somewhere, and Halloween's no exception!
I think the flowers are a neat idea, Andy.

cotton spider webs are cheap and can cover a TON of space.. use em :) love em :) they're so much fun
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
