Re: Remember 1980 (and the 1970's)
Back in the early 1970's when I was a pre-teen, and into the late 70's when I was a teenager, I used to build all kinds of scale model kits like cars, planes, and of course monster models. How I adored the Aurora "Monster Scenes" series. Too bad I couldn't afford them all on my allowance.
Also too bad that nowadays, the scale model hobby is in decline. It seems that kids these days don't want to bother building anything anymore, just buy these pre-fab metal cars and such. I've turned the clock back a bit recently and built a few of the Aurora/Polar Lights famous monster model re-issues.

Re: Remember 1980
Loan Haunter, it's funny you should mention those plastic model monsters. I use to assemble those things all the time, and the best part is that they glowed in the dark. I had them for years. I had The Hunchback of Notre Dame, King Kong, The Forgotten Prisoner of Castle Mar, Count Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, the Wolf Man and The Mummy. I would put them out as Halloween decorations every year, and I had an electronic flash unit that would make these figures glow spookly when I would flash them with the unit.
Whem we moved to lousy, stinking, rotten, UNTRADITIONAL New Lenox, my mom made me throw them away becasue she didn't want to be bothered packing and moving them, and figured I was too old. I gave them to one of the neighbor kids, instead. But what a BUMMER. I tell you, NOTHING GOOD ever came out of moving to New Lenox, Ill.

In New Lenox?? Practicaly non existant, unless you're a little kid. That was the most BORING town I ever lived in. Dwight, where I live now, on the other hand, is quite lively at Halloween.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Re: Remember 1980
Our little village of Irvington, in Indianapolis has a pretty big parade for Halloween. A festival, music, ghost walk. And children paint on the windows of the businesses and they run a contest for best art.
Pretty fun.
Pretty fun.

Hey, remember Go-Bots? The transformer rip-offs? Remember Phaser Force, the Laser Tag rip-off? Remember how at Halloween the happy meals at McDonalds would come in pumpkin buckets you could use for trick-or-treating?
