I don't believe in spirits.

I figured that.

Re: Putting the spirits to rest (post halloween tradition)
I just feel really down talking about this but I look at it this way when Halloween is in the ground every day after Halloween it grows stronger until October 1st when it will rise again and the the people who drink Hatoraide toward Halloween will duck and hide.
There are many tales there is that one you mentioned, then there one like in order to ward off you leave a lighted candle lit all Halloween night or you will get bad luck. I think I forgot to release the spirits last year . But I did this year

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I have heard of the white stones. Pretty cool.
Mac, I thought both bits.

Just because I don't believe in it, doesn't mean it isn't not true.

Re: Putting the spirits to rest (post halloween tradition)
I've never had a ceremony about disposing of my pumpkins, but I do feel a pang when I get rid of them. Next year I may try to do something ritualistic.
I know one thing--I am NOT going to be throwing any white stones into any Halloween bonfires. No way, no sir. I don't need to be fretting all year long about some weird prognostication of doom.

I like the idea of ritual, but it seems like a lot of work....Murfreesboro wrote:I've never had a ceremony about disposing of my pumpkins, but I do feel a pang when I get rid of them. Next year I may try to do something ritualistic.
