I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, I think if you're asking if your costume has to be scary or not the answer is no. Not all Halloween costumes need to be scary :D

nope it doesnt have to be scary, you can be what ever you want to be, if you want to be a princess at a ball, then be it

As long as you are convincing in your get-up then that's the right costume for you.

There's nothing quite so sad as someone who is clearly in a costume that some one else picked for them or they put on at the last minute.

not all costumes have to be scary.. just fun for you
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

So a costume has to be fun? What if I want to dress up in a costume that isn't fun for me? What if I wear an itchy burlap potato sack and nothing else? Are you saying I can't do that? Are you saying it isn't allowed!? Oh yeah?! Who are YOU!?? Who are YOU anyway to tell me I can't wear a sack for Halloween?!?! :x

No. It does not have to be scary! I have been Merlin The Magician, Ben Hur, George Washington, Mozart , Martha Stewart , A Friar, A Nun and Little Lord Fauntleroy.

I have just developed a Vampire Lestat costume and hopefully a warlock.

can be something like ur going to a ballroom or sth?
Yes.

I have two French Aristocrat costumes: one in golden brocade and one in green.

I also do an elderly Grandmother complete with shawl , granny glasses and a corm cob pipe as well as a middle aged Aunt. Both characters come from the same outfit, just different acessories, and with them I sport a 115" hoopskirt.

Hope that answers your question.
