There was probably music in the background that they couldn't license for the DVD release so they had to overdub or delete stuff. Same thing happened with WKRP in Cincinnati. If you watch that on Hulu you'll hear all new music throughout the series.

I think you're right there NeverMore. You do hear music in the background during that scene when you watch the VHS and you don't hear anything in the background on the DVD.

Cool! That solves that mystery. Muchas Gracias!

I like Johnny Depp, particularly in Sleepy Hallow. I haven't seen Dark Shadows yet, but I mean to. I think he could do an interesting take on the character.

This may be sacrilege, but does anybody remember the 2005 very short lived TV series remake with Stuart Townsend? It wasn't like the original, which may have been why it went down so quickly, but I didn't think it was bad for what it was. Anybody else see it?

So here we are, nearly two years later and still no word on whether this remake is really going to happen. I'll give it a chance if it does but it would be nearly impossible to improve on Darren McGavin's interpretation of Carl Kolchak. I'm having the same misgivings about the remake of IT, Tim Curry quite simply was Pennywise.
