I usually spend the day doing the last minute preparations and craving the last few pumpkins. When I'm all done with that, I get dressed into my costume and wait for TOTers. Then around 8pm I leave for my town's halloween "festival" which is a "Candy Walk" (a building that's decorated to a theme; usually the famous movie of the year, and kids get a load of candy, a Haunted house and a dance for the teenagers. There is also a huge bon fire and fireworks that are done by my Fire Department, and fire walkers/dancers.

All in all it's a fun night :)

I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. That festival may sound big, but trust me it used to be a lot bigger. There were like 3 different haunted houses, the first for kids 9-12 years old, the second was 13-15, and the third was 16+...and I;m gonna admit I came out of that one crying haha it was over the top scary lol We also usd to do a ton more fireworks but the neighbours complained and now our show went from 45 minutes to 15  But don't get me wrong, it's still a blast :D

I am excited that Halloween is on Saturday this year. I plan on making a day of it with my kids (10 & 12). We will watch everything spooky on TV that day. I want to fix them a fantastic Halloween lunch or dinner. Use some of those great recipes that are in every magazine.
We can have fantastic, time consuming costumes this year because we are not rushing home from work or school. We can stay up late and make a bon fire after TOTing.
Special year.

I allways take vacation days when halloween and All Saints Day are on week days. But I can see your point. When I was a kid, we allways had school on Hallowen, but we neve had school on All Saints Day. I went to Catholic schools.

This is my first post and I'm so excited that I found this forum!!! I LOVE HALLOWEEN, as the rest of you do. This year is going to be extra special, since it falls on a SATURDAY, I will have all day to set up the front yard and this year I'm including the garage and back yard....In the front of the house we will be once again showing "Nightmare Before Christmas" on a 5x6 screen on our upper porch of our house. we have a rather long driveway that will be the way back to the garage, where I will have a laboratory set up. The back yard is small but will have a few "not quite dug graves" with a few grave dwellers crawling out. I have so many ideas I can't put them all into writing. I LIVE-BREATHE-EAT Halloween at this time of year.I am looking all year long for ANYTHING that I can make into a decoration for the yard. I'm married to a man that doesn't understand my obsession with this holiday, he supports whatever I want to build, buy or create and I LOVE him and my family for putting up with me especially at this time of year. Dinners are late, papers don't get filled out, laundry sits not folded and the computer is on every HALLOWEEN site there is 24/7. So to answer the question.....I will be dressed as a mad scientist or grave digger handing out candy this year.

Plus after the tot'ing is done I will go in eat the rest of the candy, pumpkin pie dim some lights and watch Ghost Hunters Live Hunt this year. Its become the tradition over the last 3 years this being the 4th. And hopefully continues for a long time.
