Happy 100th, Arizona!

I realize that tripple digit temps are nothing to snease at, and many people die as a result. However, because of the 98 degree temp combined with extreamly high humidity, 700 plus people los their lives. It was un real. It might as well have BEEN 112 or 115 degrees as no ammount of sweating did any good at all. As much as I loved riding my motorcycle, I stayed in the AC for most of that July, because the heat and humidity was beyone opressive. Of course I must also remember that I was seriously overweight back then, and being obease does make your "engine " run much hotter. Even in the Winter time, I was walking around out side with no coat. I don't do that any more, but I sure use to. I was MISERABLE in hot weather when I was obease.

Around here, and probably elsewhere, too, the meteorologists have started announcing a "heat index" in the summer, comparable to the "wind chill" of the winter. The heat index takes the humidity into account, and renders a "feels like" temperature. When the humidity is high, the "feels like" is way higher than the actual temp.

They have a heat index here in Ill, too. Speaking of heat, I actualy rode my motorcycle to work this morning, and it's supposed to be 70 degrees today, and 77 degrees tomorow, and it's STILL WINTER, according to the calender. I would very likely be taking the bike to work, except that I have to cover the Invitational Math Contest, so I am going to be here until well into evening, and I don't want to chance it.
