No kidding about the whole flying off topic thing! I was on one thread where everyone was commenting about an orb photo and somehow it went ghost spiders

yeah get used to it, most posts go wildly off topic here....it's really the norm.

Welcome to all new haunters!
Jack, that's an interesting point about Halloween catching on in the US, but not Australia. I wonder if it has something to do with the reversed seasons down under? It would be hard for me to get into Halloween if it happened in the springtime (though I believe the German Walpurgisnacht is a springtime thing). Maybe they need to get into Walpurgisnacht down there.
Did Australia ever have a concentrated influx of Irish immigrants, the way we did during the potato famine of the 1840s? I think Halloween took root here during that time, although it took almost a hundred years to become a national holiday.
It helped a lot, too, that we had pumpkins. Pumpkins were just made for Halloween.

That's true about Pumpkins. It used to be Turnips over here until they found the pumpkin growing in North America. They're so much easier to carve!
