I know, right? I did the same thing, read it straight through. We have so much history here.

I marvel that next year this site will be 25 years old.
That's prehistoric in the internet time-line.
I joined the forum
officially in 2008, so I have been posting for 15 years, and my tally is closing in on 8% of the total, historic, volume.
That boggles my mind.

I think I maybe joined in 09, not sure. I read for a while before I joined.

Oh boy, the elves at the North Pole better send some Christmas cheer stat because boy oh boy am I behind! I literally still have my Halloween stuff out outside, but inside I do have the tree up.

I'm actually impressed the cats only managed to knock down the decorations AROUND the tree and not the tree itself. Honestly I consider that a Christmas tradition all in itself...wondering when...not IF...but WHEN the cats will knock down the tree.
I did get a couple new Christmas decorations though. Totally
not cats or anything...
The forum is really that old? Dang! I can't believe it. The forum must have been built during the pioneer days of the internet. Back in the ol' "horse an' buggy" style modem dial up days. Yep I sure do remember those days. Simpler times. I think I was in middle school when it first became a thing, but the internet itself definitely predates even that before it got really popular and accessible to the general public.
I actually can't remember when I first joined the forum. I remember originally joining as "DemonSlayerMau" but at some point couldn't get back into that account, so created this one and stuck with it since that's the name I usually stick with on most platforms, or at least something close to it.
I was on the Christmas forums as "SnowMau", but I don't think that's around anymore. I joined because I was looking for a place to talk about Halloween with fellow Halloween enthusiasts. My anniversary with my boyfriend is really close to Halloween, so I think that helped inspire my love of the holiday. My stepdad was always a big fan of it too.
But I also love Christmas. There's just something joyful and magical about the holiday season.
Although this year has just been chaotic and it's been one thing after another. I sorta joke that I might get the decorations up in time for Christmas, but they might not go down until almost Easter. Story of my life.

I'm decorating piecemeal. Advent wreath went up on Friday. Washed the globes on my hanging lamp over the table on Saturday. Polished my silver Revere bowl and filled it with red, green, silver, and gold Christmas balls today. Also just started decorating my front yard trees today. I'll try to do the front yard before I put the tree up inside, because I can do that regardless of the weather. The centerpiece of my yard is an illuminated Nativity. Looks pretty when lit up, but kind of a pain to set up. I also have illuminated candy canes, but most of them died last year.

Done with the front yard, and a good thing, as tomorrow is supposed to be stormy here. I'll start rearranging the living room for the tree tomorrow.

Actually, this website is going to be 30 years old next year, but who's counting?

I did finally get my outdoor lights and inflatables up last weekend. I'm running behind, but it is what it is.
I'm impressed the cats haven't knocked the Christmas tree over yet. But they did knock down everything around it and knocked some of the ornaments off it.

I still haven't gotten my tree up. My goal is this weekend, as I want to start baking next week.

It wouldn't be christmas without some cat-llateral damage.

Lol. Yes, indeed. Most of us have been there.

Not us, our cat doesn't ever go near the tree, I can only guess it's because we have a village under the tree with a train always running around it, so she just sits across from it with the dog and they both enjoy it, though we have seen the dog sniffing around the tree, probably because he smells the treats we got for him, as we always give our pets Christmas presents.

That sounds like a great strategy!
I finally got my tree erected today, but there's nothing on it. I have to start with the lights, and when I got lights down from the attic, I realized I'd gotten the wrong ones. I decided to leave that battle for tomorrow.
I do want to finish it this weekend, because I want to spend much of next week baking.

I'm contemplating baking a few batches of gingersnaps and sugar cookies.
