Frasier always excelled at holiday episodes. Even their Valentines episodes were terrific, and I always looked forward to Halloween, too.
Among our top faves were The Ski Lodge, Ham Radio, and the one with Derek Jacobi (The Show Must Go Off? I think). Some Frasier-isms have entered our family's vocabulary (You're quite the Bolshoi artist yourself, eg).

There is a scene where Frasier is talking to someone who Niles.
had some sort of trouble with and didn't want the man to know his whereabouts.
John Rajeski: How is Niles, anyway?
Frasier: Ah, uh, ah... He's abroad now.
John Rajeski: Really? Whoa, that must have hurt.
Frasier: No, no, I mean- Yes, I suppose it did.

We kept the Halloween movies coming yesterday. Nightmare before Christmas, Freaky (Vince Vaughn is a serial killer who changes bodies with a teenage girl, his intended victim), and the Oldman/Ryder Dracula.

Murf - if your son has the Amazon streaming service then I definitely suggest the movie called Totally Killer, it's the only new movie I watched this season that was actually good. My wife and I absolutely loved this movie, and you should check it out if you get a chance to.

I'll try to remember that.
Yesterday we watched Shaun of the Dead, a family fave.

SOTD is s brilliant movie.
I love the opening when he's stumbling about his morning, oblivious to events unfolding around him.
Tonight I'm watching Munster Go Home on Svengoolie.

Yeah, the trick of SOTD is that everyone in their society is living like a zombie before they even become zombies.
I've been trying to pivot from Halloween a little. Yesterday was Veterans Day, so my husband put on WW2 movies and documentaries.
I wish there were some good Thanksgiving movies, but I can't think of much.
One day last week I put on Bell Book and Candle. I'd forgotten that it's set at Christmas.

Bell book is a fantastic movie.
James Stewart and Kim Novak were magic (ha ha) on screen in that and in Vertigo.
A movie that captures the modern American spirit of Thanksgiving is Home For The Holidays.
It's a rom-com with teeth. I watch it every year.
Another, though not technically Thanksgiving, is The New World. It's historic fiction telling the story of John Smith and Pocahontas.
The depiction of life in the colony vs the native world is brilliant.

Oh, I've never seen either of those. I bet I'd like them both.

Of the two I recommend 'Home' yhe most, s it's N honest depiction of a modern Thanksgiving, warts and all, as they say.

I forgot to mention that you need to find the one from 1995, directed by jodie foster.

Our family got A Haunting in Venice for Christmas. It is Ken Branagh's most recent Poirot film, based very loosely on Agatha Christie's story The Halloween Party. Man, this is a great movie! Gorgeously shot, ambiguous in its conclusions, just so much fun. We've been watching it again and again. The seance scene is a must-see. I think everyone here would enjoy it.

I'm still hopping back and forth, then back again, between all of the holidays.
Earlier today I had Elvira's Movie Macabre playing in the background while shopping for Halloween and Thanksgiving stuff.
Now, one of the several Christmas music video channels is on as I contemplate the coming new year.
The sun is out for a change and the cat is sitting at the window, napping.
