I saw that movie in theaters with my mother and aunt when it first came out. A few months later, the first movie ratings system came out, and it was rated R. I of course was underage for it, so I felt a little as if I'd done something naughty. Honestly, I was so innocent/ignorant back then that I don't think I even really understood the demon rape scene. I knew that people were naked, but that was about it.
That's a funny story

It is kinda funny, isn't it?

Sounds like NYC is a great place to be at Halloween!

I was at the Columbus, OH, zoo, on Weds. They had an entire area crammed with walls of jack o'lanterns, elaborately carved as zoo animals. I took pictures of everything, but when I got home, they were all indecipherable blurs. I guess I got so excited by them that I danced around as I took the pictures, lol.

Tonight I have The Wicker Man ready to roll.

My brother and I carved pumpkins for ambiance.

It's a pattern year so no originals but you have to do it.

(The one on the right is supposed to be a frightened ghost, but all I see is Al Jolson.)

Those are great! Love your raven.

I didn't even know that Goldblum had made a Sleepy Hollow. My husband and I are currently viewing the Burton/Depp version.

I presume The Wicker Man is the first one? I used to have that on VHS, but never had it on DVD. Honestly, I bought it because it said it was a cult classic, but I was shocked by it. I wasn't prepared at all for the ending. I knew the Edward Woodward character was priggish, but I had thought he was genuinely heroic in his quest to save the child, so I was upset by his fate. The other thing I associate with that movie was my discovery that my tween or young teenage son had found it and watched it without my knowledge.

It's a quietly disturbing movie, one of the best of It's genre.

I'm a huge fan of Sleepy Hallow. Burton and Depp play well together, and Ricci gave Katerina so much depth.

I find that we put the Burton/Depp Sleepy Hollow on frequently during the spooky season, which I regard as a sure sign that it hits the mark.

I bet that haunted house will be thronged tonight! Enjoy!

Yesterday I watched my 25th anniversary DVD of Phantom of the Opera. It's a stage production, which I prefer to the movie. I followed it up with Hocus Pocus, a documentary on hauntings, and a cartoon from my daughter's childhood called Scary Godmother. We had Haunted History of Halloween on later.
