The Munsters

Post by NeverMore » Mon Nov 21, 2011 2:42 am

Seems NBC has ordered a pilot for a reboot of the Munsters. It's not going to be a comedy this time though, they want to do it as a drama.

deadline.com wrote:"Like Fuller’s previous series, Pushing Daisies, the project features striking visuals mixed with all the classic Munsters archetypes. Grandpa Sam Dracula is essentially Dracula who assembled Herman because no man was good enough for his daughter Lily, a sexy vamp. Lily’s niece Marilyn the freak is actually normal and Lily and Herman’s only child, Eddie, has his werewolf tendencies surface in puberty, forcing the family to relocate to their famous 1313 Mockingbird Lane address."

This is most likely going to suck like hell. How can this even be a drama?

Well, you can do SyFy drama, so I guess they are going to take it in that direction. Creepy, sinister Munsters, not genial, lovable Munsters, maybe.

Frankenstein's Monster married to the daughter of Dracula and having a werewolf son, all living together in a haunted house, I can't wait to see them turn that into something serious.

Here's the latest on the show...

It seems this isn't going to be a remake of the original series but more of a reinvisioning of it. The pilot episode is now being directed by Bryan Singer and is set to begin filming in February. Oh yeah, Lily Munster has an eating disorder and eats suicide victims. Yum! Yum!

What I love about the pilot story is it’s about a family who loves each other and they have a child [Eddie, the werewolf] with a disability and they’re trying to craft a path for that child so he can have a happy life
oh for cripes sake.....this is going to suck harder then my Dyson!
Fortunately, we went to Eddie Izzard as Grandpa very early in the process.
I think Eddie is hilarious, but i think he's going to stink in this....

I'm too lazy to look it up. Are you saying Eddie is born as a werewolf or something so the whole family dresses up as monsters and lives in a spooky house and Lily eats suicide victims so he doesn't feel left out?

My guess is they're gonna go the Being Human route. They actually are monsters but they hide it in public.

have you never seen the TV series?

The family are monsters, the dad is a Frankenstein, the mom is a vampiress, the kid is a wolfman, the grandpa is Dracula and the niece is "normal" human.....

Sounds like Eddie might be retarded or in a wheelchair or something for this new TV series....
